Artist Biography:

Yurika Nakae was born in China. Trained at some of the most prestigious art schools in China, she relocated to Japan in 1992. She has painted under the names Jiang Lie Qin (signed as JLQ) and Yurika Nakae. She is hailed in Japan as a rising star in the art world. In 2002, she relocated to Los Angeles, California. Her work has been featured in a lot of exhibitions in North America, Europe, and Asia, including seven major individual exhibitions, and has received attention in both print and broadcast media in America and Asia. She is a member of several exclusive artist groups in Asia, and her work has received awards, including most recently a prize from the Renten Exhibition in February of 2002. Her painting “Venice Gondolas No. 3 was included in the Japan Art Annual 2003, published by Bijutsu Nenkansha. Nakae has also worked extensively in the fashion industry.
